Rick Parfitt. Will of Status Quo Band member revealed

Rick Parfitt Will. Will of Status Quo guitarist revealed.

Last Will and testamentRick Parfitt Will disclosed. Surprise this week when the Will of Rick Parfitt revealed an estate valued at a few hundred thousand pounds. Perhaps there is an expectation that all rock stars are millionaires. But what we rightly don’t know is the spending habits of the rich and famous. And really is it any of our business anyway?

The estate of the 68-year old, who was born not far from where I am, in Woking, is valued at just over half a million pounds. Once debts and costs are deducted, it adds up to £230,753. Rick Parfitt died in hospital in Spain, on Christmas Eve, from an infection having been admitted following complications with a shoulder injury.

The Will, which Rick Parfitt signed just four days before his death, reveals that his UK estate is divided between his third wife Lyndsay and his children. Lyndsay has been reported as saying she now has no means to continue the lifestyle she and her children had been used to.

Rick Parfitt married his third wife Lyndsay in 2006 and they had twins Tommy and Lily two years later.

The father-of-four was previously married to Patty Beedon and Marietta Boeker, both attended his funeral in January. The value of his estate in Spain has not been revealed.

This story illustrates the highly personal nature of making a Will. There is no obligation for a wife or husband to have knowledge of their spouses financial affairs. Lyndsay might have reasonably expected the value of her husband’s estate to have been larger, but this was not the case, and there’s no suggestion of any wrong-going. Perhaps just someone who preferred to spend rather than save.

At least Rick Parfitt had a Will. Four in ten UK adults die without a Will. A number of well-known people have died without a Wills and you can read what happened to their affairs here.
